Congratulations to the winner Cody Southern, with our two runners up being Imogen Teare and Edith Clarke. There were also seven Highly Commended stories. All 10 winners received Waterstones book tokens, with their winning stories being displayed in the children’s section of Yeovil Waterstones.
The YCAA are holding another fun fundraising event with the Gardens Group at
Brimsmore Apple Tree Restaurant. After the huge success of our summer Bake
Off and Tea Party it was suggested that we should also celebrate the seasons
of autumn and winter. We started off thinking about chutney in all its
forms, then someone said "What about Marmalade?", and, of course, someone
else added that we would need some good bread to go with them both. Now we
have this brilliant event with three categories where everyone is invited to
enter. The entry fee for each item in any category is £5, and the YCAA, as
always, promises to use its funds to support young people studying the arts
and for promoting the arts in our area.
If you are a home bread maker, then there are opportunities for tradional
bakes, world breads and bread using alternative grains. Have a go at making
bread to go with your homemade chutney and some tangy marmalade. Making and
baking any of these will tickle your taste buds as you make them, filling
your home with tantalising aromas. Mmmmm!
Entry forms should be at Brimsmore with the £5 entry fee by 6pm on Monday
6th March.
On the day you can take your entries to Brimsmore from 9am up until judging
at 3pm. The Apple Tree Restaurant and Farm shop will be delighted to
welcome you and you can enjoy all that they offer whilst watching our
esteemed judge, Lesley Waters, do the judging. There will be a raffle, and
some wonderful prizes, one of which will be a voucher from the Evershot
Bakery, who are masters at making artisan bread, and others from Brimsmore
and the YCAA.
The event is open from 2pm on Tuesday 14th March, if you want to have
something to eat and drink as you watch the fun unfolding, with judging by
Lesley Waters taking place at 3pm. Make sure you are there to collect your
prize!
This will be the final event in the Brimsmore celebrations of their 25th
Anniversary from 1st - 14th March.
