The YCAA Children’s Short Story Writing Competition 2019
Tamsin Cooke says ‘Go Wild’
Prizes for you and your school!
Some children love sport; some children love writing, but this is an opportunity for all those who have good imaginations and would love to write a story. What could a child in year 5 or 6 do with the theme of ‘Go Wild’? A story of up to 500 words will earn the winner £30. Two runners-up will receive £20 each. The winner’s school will win £100 and a class tour of Yeovil Town Football Club where they may be able to meet some players. The Football Club’s charity will be supporting our YCAA competition with this additional prize. The winner will be so proud to earn his/her class this opportunity, which may inspire the young writers to ‘Go Wild’. The theme for this brilliant writing competition was chosen by our judge, the popular children’s author Tamsin Cooke. Have your pupils read ‘Cat Burglar’ yet?
Schools are invited to encourage pupils to write their stories during the first half-term of 2019. The presentation of prizes to the winners and the winning school will take place in Yeovil Library on April 2nd. On that date Yeovil Library will be celebrating World Book Day, so there is no better time for the celebration of reading and writing than filling the library with children who love both.
The competition is now open and all entries should be returned to the YCAA by post or email by the end of this half term, Friday 22nd February please. Presentations will be on Tuesday 2nd April.
